Welcome to Mountain Village
Mountain Village is nestled in the heart of the Uncompahgre National Forest in
San Miguel County. Home to the famous Telluride Ski Resort, the community welcomes thousands of skiers from across the country, who travel here each year to enjoy its uncrowded pristine slopes and unparalleled views.
Mountain Village is a pedestrian-friendly alpine village situated 9,500 feet above the historic
town of Telluride. Developed in 1985 to complement Telluride, Mountain Village is connected to Telluride via a gondola ride, which takes passengers to and from both places in just 13 minutes. This service is provided free of charge and is the first of its kind in the US.
For those with school-going children, regular use of the gondola becomes a necessity. Mountain Village is part of the highly-rated Telluride R-1 school district, which is located in Telluride.
Besides being a great place to ski in the winter, Mountain Village is just as wonderful in the summer, with numerous outdoor recreation opportunities found both within the town and in Telluride. This lovely community of about 1,500 residents remains a tranquil getaway even in the busy winter and summer months. Visitors come with a view to enjoying the peaceful slopes and breathtaking nature, and the community lifestyle reflects that.
While many homes in Mountain Village are vacation properties, the town has all the amenities and services that make living here permanently truly enjoyable and convenient. You’ll find beautiful residential neighborhoods, a farmer’s market, great restaurants, and all the services you need, including its own police department.
