Happy Halloween! Most of the fall colors are gone and we're headed into the heart of fall off-season with the gondola closed until Thanksgiving. Last weekend's snow has us thinking ahead to ski season and the colder temperatures are allowing for snowmaking on the mountain. Hopefully, the optimistic El Nino predictions will play out!
Real estate sales through September continue to trend behind 2022 with dollar volume down 24% and the number of sales down 31%. Today's real estate market is different from the torrid "COVID" years, but lack of inventory, particularly high-quality properties in excellent locations, is keeping prices high while time on the market is increasing. Interestingly when you look at the 5-year average the numbers change to plus 6% in dollar volume through September and negative 29% in the number of sales through September. Single-family home sales in Mountain Village have been significant market drivers recently.
